TOPIC: Understanding one of the fastest growing alternative investments: Structured Notes
Investment advisers, accountants and attorney’s will be hearing the term “Structured Note” more frequently. In the past 3 years, the issuance of structured products have dramatically increased. It is important trustees, financial, tax and estate planning professionals understand the risks and opportunities of these products.
Investors have been allured by the stock market protection and potential upside these solutions can offer. However, it is important to understand the liquidity, market and credit risk associated with these vehicles. Ultimately, these products come in all shapes and sizes. I will discuss my thoughts on when they may be appropriate, what to steer clear of and how to help you navigate these products with your clients.
