Discussion Description: 

Estate planning practitioners debate the use of joint versus individual revocable trusts for married couples.  This presentation will focus on the factors to evaluate to determine whether a joint revocable trust or individual trusts are best for each client's unique circumstances.

Bio:

Ms. Wilson received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Environmental Policy from American University, Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School, and Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation with a Certificate in Estate Planning from Georgetown University Law Center. Following graduation from George Washington University Law School, she practiced at Howrey, LLP in Washington, DC and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom, LLP in Boston, MA.


Tara went on to found a family-focused boutique law firm specializing in estate and small business planning helping parents organize their affairs to protect their investments and provide for their loved ones. As a staunch advocate of pro bono legal service, she established a pro bono clinic serving families in northeast Massachusetts and volunteered in the Massachusetts Trial Courts as a mediator and advisor in the Probate Court. She is the Executive Board Legal Advisor for The Mother Connection, Inc., a non-profit organization serving over 500 families in the Merrimack Valley and served on the Board of Directors for the Professional Center for Child Development, a Massachusetts non-profit corporation providing early intervention and therapeutic services to over 1400 children. 

As a result of these accomplishments and commitments, Tara received nominations for the "Top Women of Law" award from Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. In addition, Tara is regularly sought out by various media for her expertise and contributes articles focused on estate planning, financial matters, small business issues, and parenting. Tara has been featured and quoted in Forbes, CNBC, Woman's Day, and U.S. News & World Report.
